1. Set an objective simply joining English school will take you nowhere, you need to really push yourself. Recreational lessons are like health club subscriptions, they get rid of the guilt but you continue to be overweight. Go for an exam such as the IELTS or the CFE, set a date, this is going to move you considerably more than any educator. Without a set aim you will end up similar to a boat without any rudder sailing in an ocean.
2. Switch your media. The news is pointless, will a hurricane in Ghana ever have any affect on you? Think about how much extra time you would find by altering your media to a learning English podcast, or listening (IN ENGLISH!) about a hobby you have. Make full use of your time, watching the reports in your own language is perhaps the number one waste of time you are ever going to spend.
3. Always read in English, this is comparable to Number 2, make an attempt to upgrade that worthless gratis newspaper, or sudokho, have a book, print something out (IN ENGLISH), I really believe it will get easier with time.
4. In the event that you are confused don’t bother with an intensive language training course, only do one if you are beginning. Preferably aim to do a program IN English, i.e do a Internet Training course in England. This is far more useful, firstly you are surrounded by English speakers, (contrary to the language tutorials), and you will undoubtedly be pressured into speaking and listening. The pressure could be demanding but heythats life!
5. Switch your family vacation, if you are living in Spain and are mastering English, why not head to Brighton for one week instead of Calpi for the vacation? OK, you most likely won’t see the sun for a week but who cares? You will get to make use of your English and discover one of the several Anglo Saxon cultures.
6.Write Write Write, this is perhaps one of the most difficult tasks, but with conviction and a decent IELTS teacher or an IELTS checking service, will help greatly. OK one can find ‘some’ words that do not sound as they are written but almost all do. Compare English to French and believe me you can be thankful English evolved into the world language! But honestly write often and try to make sure you get it checked, if you don't there is just no point.
7.Most importantly enjoy it, once you have learnt it you will be ready to speak with just about a third of the entire planet, a decent offer for developing a few habits
Best of luck!
