However, some think that the host country is being encroached upon. In my opinion, international marketing brings more benefits than harm towards the country in questions.
An important aspect of globalization is that it improves a local nation’s economy and technology. This is to say, international marketing has led some global corporations to contribute towards the local community by establishing a factory. Therefore, not only will there be more opportunity for employment, the advanced technology of another country will also be imported. The new equipment, skills and job vacancies are in the local society best interest.
Furthermore, a country’s culture and language could be spread worldwide through globalization. For instance, if a Hollywood movie that is being promoted internationally, focuses on America’s culture, more people will get the opportunity to learn about America’s past achievements. Other than that, the language of the country could also be expanded when singers from different country collaborate for a song. In this way, the music industry of those countries may also consequently evolve.
On the other hand, a convincing argument about international marketing leading a country to lose its distinct characteristic has also been made. The current generation, especially teenagers are often engrossed in foreign brands, and thus, losing interest towards local products. As a result of international corporations’ intrusion, local businesses are forced to close down. Those shops that specialize in upholding traditional skills and artwork will also be out of business which leads to the grave of the long-establish culture.
In conclusion, despite international marketing having some adverse effect on local market and culture, I concede that the benefits that it brings towards the economy and culture of the host country outweigh the disadvantages.
