The debate in the perception of individuals over employment has been a contentious issue between opposing sectors in eastern and western society. I believe that switching job at least once is essential in a career development. This essay will discuss the issue and use examples from the nurses in the Philippines and the middle age Americans to demonstrate points and support arguments.

Firstly, the economic rise in the society contradicts the belief of most Filipino conservatives over staying in one job. This is largely because relying in a low compensated job could insufficiently address the increasing demands of basic needs such as shelter and clothing. For example, a recent study in the Philippines showed that over half of the nursing profession has deliberately changed their career to a more highly paid job like call center agents and real estate agents. Therefore, job hopping in response to the increasing cost of living delivers a positive outcome among people.

Secondly, the personality of a working individual could be positively influenced by this switch of employment. This is due to fact that the effect of this new work environment could be an essential factor towards personal growth. For example, researchers from the John Hopkins University revealed that most middle age Americans who switch jobs at least once had a better outlook in life as compared to those who remained in one employment throughout their career. As a consequence, changing work has a certain benefits in an individual’s career.

To conclude, I wholeheartedly believe that staying in one job is an old-fashioned practice, which has now been undermined by a new trend of people switching employment at least once in their career.

In 1990 and 1991, the WHO initially noted more than 120,000 bird flu cases where it further increased to over 130,000 in the next two years. Subsequently, a continuous rise of casualties had been gathered in the year 1994, 1995, and 1996 with approximately ranging from 140,000, 145,000 and 150,000 respectively.

Meanwhile, the global bird flu had reached its peak to nearly 180,000 cases in 1997, before slightly dropping to about 2,000 to 3,000 and ended with almost 175,000 in the year 2000.

Overall, it can clearly be seen that the bird flu incidents in the WHO data has profoundly increased over the initial 7 years, except for the year 1997 to 2000 were casualties has significantly remained high to a nearly 180,000.
