I am of the opinion that by enchancing reading comprehension is the vital path to understand unsual words better. This essay will analyse both views before reaching to a reasoned conclusion.
On one hand, many people asserts that speaking and writing encourage an individual to gain the understanding of different vocabulary better. In other words, it seems to them an essential element to get command on vocabulary,if they produce them in their script and spoken language, which provide them a chance to practice those less common words on regular basis. Recently a study revealed by the Cambridge University that 16% of English vocabulary has been improved over a decade in the U.K by the international students. by frequently usage of their productive effeciencies. Furthermore,it also increase their fluency and writing speed over all. However, I believe this is not a wise way prior reading in context. Therefore, understanding of written script indeed increase vocabulary power.
On the other hand , it is widely recognised that the better and deep understanding of the written script is the sole way to flourish new vocabulary knowledge. By this I mean, if someone reads deeply and with context then there are fair chances to use those vocabulary appropriately. One can not learn those high -level terminologies without receiving them from receptive means ,especially without improving reading comprehension. For instance, a survey by the British Council reading with comprehension improved approximatley 76% of vocabulary knowledge with accuracy in Indian polulation in 2 years time. It proves that the frequent exposure to the written scripts benefit to memorize new vocabulary with context at higher level and in less time.
In conclusion, I am of the view that communication and writing may imrove vocabulary but to use them correctly and appropriately one has to widen their reading resourses and mastering them. Hence ,the authorities should encourage their societies to improve reading comprehension in order to expand their vocabulary knowledge in a right way.
