Others argue that productive skills such as writing and speaking are more important. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
An immense part of human interacting is using of words. Our social status usually depends on the quality of our word-stock. For many people reading is a highway to success. Others point out that writing and speaking are more efficient. I agree with the second ones, and in this essay I shall explain this opinion.
To begin with, the proponents of reading as a main way in language education argue that it is the cheapest and more obtainable method. For example, books always abound in markets in every part of a city, people can buy them in every moment and start to read without a pencil or a companion. Furthermore, reading is one of the fastest types of activity.
Nevertheless, the opponents of upgrading vocabulary by reading do not accept this economy of money and time. Their main argument is that writing and speaking affect more types of memory and form more stable construction in human mind. Moreover, mistakes are noticeable, they can be understood and corrected immediately – people clearly see or hear from another person about them and try to remember keep it in mind. By the way, books have a specific genre, and words in them can be unused or rarely used, while a speech almost never has this drawback.
To sum it up, a higher outcome is reached by writing and speaking. These forms of education have got the number of minuses that reading has not, but the amount of pluses is outweighting.
