Are there alternatives in the education system? Is traditional education doing more harm than good?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
The issue of whether conventional curriculum or academic revolution helps explore the creativity of pupils is a contentious topic in the advent of education. In my opinion, a child can learn in various ways other than schools. Meanwhile, a traditional system could be a hindrance in developing their abilities.

The cognitive ability of boys and girls could also be enhanced through music and art. This is because it provides unrestricted expressions of feelings, which is conducive and essential in learning. In this way, they become open-minded, fearless, and experimental in analyzing any circumstances. For example, recent studies by International Musician Society showed that 58% of school-aged children who attend piano lessons excelled in solving mathematical problems. Therefore, it is clear that the custom of learning is not only confined to schools but could also be sought in other areas depending on a child’s interest.

In recent years, an increasing number of students tend to withdraw from schools because of unsatisfied experience. This could be due to the fact that studies are complicated and uninterested for them to handle. This results in poor academic performance and mental frustrations. For instance, recent studies by Global Education reported that 33% of primary students in Shanghai failed to reach tertiary level due to their tedious and slack approach with traditional subjects. Therefore, it is evident that children are becoming intolerant with the over familiarity of a curriculum.

In conclusion, a diverse educational system is ubiquitous nowadays, and adherence to traditional ways could cause negative implications in the future of students.

ACADEMIC TASK 1

The pie chart shows the distribution of expenses in various sectors of three areas in Britain for 2014.

In 2014, the largest proportion of expenditures in Yorkshire went to education with nearly a third, and leisure with roughly one quarter. Small minorities of share were allocated in community care, social services, environment, and others. Moreover, the ratio of allotted money in education and leisure was identical in Lancashire, with just one quarter. The remaining amount, however, were equally distributed in community care, social services, environment, and others, with approximately 10% individually.

Derbyshire invested just under a half of its total budget in education, whereas an insignificant minority was in social services. Subsequently, education was just around one quarter and the rest of the cost spent on community care, environment and other stuff, with nearly a fifth each, respectively.

Overall, Derbyshire had the majority of budget allocated on leisure, while Yorkshire and Lancashire invested more on education in a single year.
