Is technology making us intellectually weaker or more intelligent?Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Numerous software user-experience specialists argue whether technology should constantly improve per user’s needs or stay the same so consumers can adjust to it. In the time of the breakthrough in software and machinery humanity should be vigilant about the effect it has on their intellect.
The basic law of evolution states that if an entity is not improving then it will finally become extinct. Technology is not an exception. For instance, a recent study from Harvard shows that 80% of software products which stopped an intensive development for longer than two month, disappeared from the market during the last year. Therefore, it is obvious that continuous extension is necessary for modern technology, otherwise users will abandon it.
With development of brand-new tools often comes significant growth in the amount of performed work. On the one hand, new techniques and devices require more knowledge to master them. On the other hand, cutting-edge approaches may dramatically decrease the time needed to achieve a goal. For example, a recent analysis performed by Coursera depicted 300% reduction in time spent by students on major online courses after introducing cutting-edge educational service on their website. Therefore, seeing in this light, I can state the investment of time and money in high-tech solutions in perspective often provide colossal benefits.
To conclude, from given examples I firmly believe that technology must evolve constantly to be in full symbiosis with humanity. In the future, we might be able simply load necessary data directly to our brain instead of spending precious time on studying.
