Task 2
Some people believe that employees should stay in the same job for the rest of their lives. Others think they should switch jobs at least once during their career.

To what extent do you agree / disagree?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

The issue of employment change has grown in importance since the company competition has largely increased due to volatile market conditions. The option of switching jobs has become more and more normal among employees in comparison with previous times but it must not be forgotten that holding a position is indeed a viable option. This essay will illustrate that changing jobs is preferable for both job hunters and employers, using job types as examples to demonstrate points and support arguments.

Firstly, if applicants chose a part-time or casual job instead a full time position people might obtain more experience along with recognition by companies becoming a more desirable asset. Furthermore, labor conditions push even more the decision to earn a living. For instance, studies from the Commerce Chamber of Australia has release figures of casual and part time jobs at 75% and only 25% for full time workers. Therefore if government and companies change the labor conditions giving more attractive fringe benefits as an example, people might stay longer in a company.

Secondly, even if retaining a position is absolutely possible, there would still people failing in productivity due to the lack of motivation. This is due to the fact that people needs to feel part of the team not isolated. For example, in Sydney recent government reports shows that productivity has improve in 35% in certain sectors were people were used to do all the time same tasks. Therefore, personal reasons are also unfavorable for full time jobs.

To conclude, although switching jobs it might be unsecure and attractive for employees and employers there are still benefits to be gained. Moreover, the labor conditions of casual and part-time workers seems to increase productivity and motivation.
