Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

The issue whether copyright policies in the society has prevented creativity or acknowledged it, is contentious and has grown in importance since the advent of social media. It must not be forgotten that these laws have kept the peace and orderliness, without these chaos is apparent. This argument will be furtherly discussed by determining points and supporting ideas using YouTube and Piracy as examples.

Firstly, Copyright infringement is a crime determined by patent laws. These regulations were made to protect the rights of producers from intellectual and financial theft. Moreover, unique ideas are encouraged through these. It should be acknowledged that social media such as YouTube has devised a myriad of ways on how to protect and support original music videos. One of such is through monetization, by creating an original version of the video linked to the source artist earning money is possible. Therefore, it must be acknowledged that if copyright laws are present, creativity is encouraged.

Secondly, if such laws were disregarded, there would be major consequences. This is largely because deviant behaviors such as piracy will be prevalent. Piracy may lead to financial and intellectual bankruptcy. Take for an example, in the USA 100 million dollars are lost every year because of incidents of pirated CDs sold in the black market. Thus, having no proper rules governing copyright would definitely cause troublesome not only to the individuals but also to large industries such as music.

In conclusion, setting copyright laws provides avenues to become creative while safeguarding the rights of people and protecting from abuse of freedom.
