Is technology making us intellectually weaker or more intelligent?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
The issue of whether humans should adapt to technology or vice versa, is contentious and has grown in importance over the last century. This causes an excess of controversy that humans have become intellectually incapacitated. However, it must not be forgotten that technology is a tool created by man and has benefited humanity in a myriad of ways. This essay will discuss using mobile technology and computers as examples to determine points and support arguments.
Firstly, technology must adjust to the limitations of humans. Furthermore, it is absurd that man will conform to technology, consumed by the benefits it provides. This is noticeably because development will be impossible and stagnant in the society. To exemplify, mobile phones have drastically evolved physically and functionally according to modern needs. According to the latest consumer research, in UK 99% of cell phones released in the 1990s are already obsolete. Therefore, if humans will adapt to technology, devolution and stagnation is obviously awaiting if not going to happen.
Secondly, with the significant benefits in software engineering, medical treatment or even social media. Technology has also made learning more efficient and convenient. Online learning is possible anywhere and anytime. Likewise, researching is a lightning speed, easier just by a click of a finger. Take for instance, in the study conducted by the US Department of Education, the incorporation of computer technology in the classroom has significantly improved the performance of elementary students by 90% in comparison to students of the same level in 2005. Thus, technology has hastened and advanced educational growth.
In conclusion, although there individuals who believe that humans must adjust to technology and there is little benefit from it, I vehemently think that it has accommodated human needs and desires in a surmountable way.
