Communication plays a pivotal role in conflict resolution and camaraderie among family members. Since the recent introduction of mobile phones and the internet, relationship inside the family has been closer than ever. This essay will tackle this argument and bring out points and support ideas by examples.

Firstly, it has never been much difficult for children to communicate to their parents with convenience and ease after the emergence of portable mobile phones. Largely because few decades ago landlines and telegrams were the main modes of conveying message from a distance. Furthermore, incorporated specifications and features such as cameras to cell phones has enticed the public to buy one. Recent telecommunication studies of Apple Inc. showed that 90% of people in the USA own cellular phones and 90% of them utilize it for non-voice messages (text, chat, emails etc.) while the remaining 10% for voice calls. Therefore, mobile gadgets bridge the gap of communication separated by distance.

Secondly, Internet technology has made conveying of ideas more cost-effective. Calling and text messages are possible without incurring any charges unlike when using prepaid phones. Take for example, 8 out of 10 people prefer using social media platforms such as Facebook messenger, Twitter or Viber to contact loved ones rather than the traditional way of snail mail or telegrams which are expensive and time consuming. Thus, it is clear that the internet has massively affected people by lowering the expenses for communicating.

To conclude, I strongly disagree that communication has become less. The impact of mobile and internet technology are phenomenal because it is more personalized, effective and affordable whether to be used at a distance or proximity.

Doing an enjoyable activity with a child can develop better skills and imagination than reading. To what extent do you agree? Use reasons and specific examples to explain your answers.

Competent skills and creative imagination are essential skills to develop at an early age for a stronger foundation and preparation in the adult life. I vehemently agree that acquiring such abilities are obtained from computer game consoles and sports apart from reading alone. This argument will be furtherly discussed by determining points and supporting it by examples.

Firstly, reading has myriad of benefits. Nevertheless, computer games are programmed to simulate the real life experience and develop spatial awareness and acquire active skills such as cooking a meal, driving a car among others. Furthermore, recent technologies have tremendously improved online or offline games mimicking human activities through the use of 3D effects and social media interactions. Because of these advancement, children are now able to role play and experience real life scenarios while playing PlayStations and Nintendo and other portable gadgets. Therefore, indulging into these platforms stimulates the brain to learn and experience an actual scenario.

Secondly, children often have short attention span concerns and reading will help little in this situation. Physical activities such as sports can greatly contribute not only in advancing physical abilities but also cognitive aspects. Recent studies from the Department of Health showed that attention deficit disorder is effectively combated by engaging children into sports, 90% of children has significantly improved in their focus and attention after a psychological exam. Therefore, it is clear that sports has positive effects in learning.

To conclude, though reading contributes in ability development and creative imagination, other interactive activities such as playing console games and sports are equally if not greater in the process of skill building and creativity.
